Specialize and Succeed in Music Performance or Music Education

Choose from seven majors at The University of Texas at Tyler to focus your bachelor of music (BM) degree in studies that promote your talents and interests: composition, instrumental music education, instrumental performance, piano performance, piano pedagogy, vocal performance or vocal music education.

Graduates of the music program at UT Tyler have gone on to such positions as music teachers, band directors and church musicians, and many have pursued graduate studies in music.

Music Theory I

Undertake an elementary study of melody, rhythm and diatonic tonal harmony in four voices and in simple instrumental textures.

Music History I

Survey stylistic trends, major compositions, composers and genres from antiquity through 1750.

Music Literature
