Master’s programme in Chemical Engineering

The two-year Master’s in Chemical Engineering is an internationally oriented programme and is taught entirely in English. The programme starts in September. For the specialization in Molecules Materials Engineering starting in February is also possible, but only after approval of the Admission Committee. The pre-Master’s programme starts in September.

WHAT IS CHEMICAL ENGINEERING?

Chemical Engineering is a broad discipline that encompasses so much more than chemistry alone. As a chemical engineer, you are at home in fields of research such as chemistry, materials science or process technology. You are also well versed in more physics-related areas, such as fluid dynamics and thermodynamics.

Chemical engineers are creative problem solvers who use their scientific and technical expertise to develop novel chemical processes, materials and products for a wide variety of applications.

WHAT MAKES CHEMICAL ENGINEERING UNIQUE?

In the Master’s programme in Chemical Engineering at the University of Twente, you will learn to combine the various elements of your knowledge to develop, improve and implement processes, products and materials.

This MSc programme puts you at the forefront of R D in innovative chemical processes, novel materials and new products. You will harness the latest technology and techniques to address the challenges that society faces. For instance, you can discover whether biomass conversion is able to provide lasting energy solutions, explore the potential of membrane technology to purify water, or use your knowledge of biomolecules to develop new materials or to generate power by osmosis.

At the University of Twente you can focus on process engineering or materials science.

WORLD-CLASS RESEARCH FACILITIES

During the Master’s programme you will benefit from our close ties with high profile research institutes, including the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology and the MIRA Institute for Biomedical Technology and Technical Medicine as well as the research programmes for Science Based Engineering. You will fulfil the role of junior researcher from early on in the programme, giving presentations, writing articles and getting involved in grant applications. It is a highly international programme. You will write and present in English and have the opportunity to complete an internship abroad.
