The Department of Chemistry offers a research and thesis based Masters of Science program.

The MEng program offers a course-based degree that may be a combination of course work and a project OR course work only. The MEng degree may be obtained either on a full-time or part-time basis.

Explore diverse research fields such as wastewater and food treatment, polymer and process engineering, metallurgy and nanotechnology in this dynamic program. Students benefit from full-scale equipment and the latest computer technology for process modelling, simulation and control.

Chemistry is a physical science which deals with structures, properties, reactions, syntheses and uses of substances. The general purpose of studies in chemistry is to increase our understanding of the structure and behavior of the matter of our environment. By its nature, chemistry is interdisciplinary and occupies a central position among the sciences.

The Master of Health Science (MHSc) in Clinical Engineering educates students on how to apply and implement medical technologies to optimize modern health-care delivery.

As a graduate student in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference in the world by being part of an active research community that conducts valuable research on practical problems.

The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering offers the Master’s degree programme with specialty fields in Chemical and Materials, Environmental, and Nuclear, in Engineering or Science.

Chemical and Chemical Biological engineers create and develop processes to change raw materials into the products that society depends on; food, chemicals, fuels, energy, metals, pharmaceuticals, paper, plastics, and personal care products. Chemical and process engineers help to manage natural resources, protect the environment, control health and safety procedures, and recycle materials.

The main objective of the master’s programs is to refine the skills and research expertise of the students by expanding their specialized knowledge of chemical engineering primarily achieved through course work, research seminars, and technical training.

The Master of Engineering Chemical Engineering consists primarily of a research project leading to a Master’s thesis combined with some graduate coursework. The objectives of the M.Eng. (Thesis Option) are to extend the student’s knowledge of the fundamentals of chemical engineering and to provide significant exposure to research via a well-defined project.

The Master of Engineering (MEng) Program is designed for engineers who want to enhance their career opportunities in as little as one year of full-time study. The program provides students with advanced professional training that is respected by employers and differentiates them in a crowded marketplace.

The minimum requirements to be fulfilled are 4 term courses and a thesis. Two graduate courses must be from within the Department of Chemical Engineering, unless otherwise approved by the research supervisor and departmental graduate coordinator.

The department offers programs leading to a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D). The department has well equipped research and teaching laboratories, and allows either experimental or theoretical research projects. Students may be involved in a specialized research-oriented activity, collaboration with industry, or research centres in Canada.

The Master of Engineering Science program is a thesis based Master’s degree. This program is offered to applicants who hold a four-year Bachelor’s Degree.

This program will provide students with knowledge in a chosen area of specialty beyond the bachelor’s degree through a research-intensive program.

The responsibilities assumed by Chemical Engineers include a wide range of activities such as research and development of novel products and processes, the design, development and operation of process plants, and management of technical operations and sales.

The MEng in Chemical Engineering is a nominal one year practically oriented program intended primarily for students who plan to make their careers in industry.

Consider the Master of Science (MSc) program if you want to specialize in an area within chemical, process control, or materials engineering. The MSc is a full-time, research-based program requiring the completion of a thesis. An MSc will help students concentrate on one area of study, which will benefit them as they enter or re-enter the industry with more advanced skills and knowledge.

University of Ottawa, Chemical Engineering – The Department of chemical and biological engineering located in the Faculty of Engineering offers graduate programs leading to the degrees of Master of Applied Science (MASc), Master of Engineering (MEng) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Engineering.
